So you’re trying to find a creative writing workshop in English in Buenos Aires?
I studied Creative Writing and Non-Fiction as an undergraduate at the University of Iowa (which houses the oldest creative writing program in the country and is consistently ranked #1 in Fiction, Poetry, and Non-Fiction). My genre of focus is poetry, and I write non-fiction as well. I have also taken workshops and seminars at New York University, studying under poets Rachel Zucker and Matthew Rohrer.
My poetry has been published in Fractal, (parenthetical), and The Rusty Toque, and I have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
I offer a 2 hour workshop, once a week:
Poetry: 6 weeks (1800 pesos) // 8 weeks (2200 pesos)
Non-Fiction (Personal Essay): 6 weeks (1920 pesos) // 8 weeks (2400 pesos)
All prices are inclusive of course readings and materials.
What can you expect in a workshop with me?
We won’t just be sitting down quietly and making edits to your work. To improve as a writer, you also have to exercise your reading muscle. You will be expected to complete short readings of other writers’ work that I will provide, and be able to (and learn how to) critically analyze it. You become a better writer when you’re a better reader.
The first hour will be spent on analyzing and discussing the week’s assigned reading, followed by short writing exercises done in-class. The last 40 minutes will be dedicated to workshopping your piece for that week.
If you have any questions about the workshop or would like to set up a free information session, drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
